Do you use social media (like Zoom or Instagram)?

Do you have an intellectual disability?

Would you like to take part in research?

Heidi Peart is doing a research project at the University of Melbourne to find out if social media is a good way for people with an intellectual disability to find and share important information or get help if they need it.

This research project aims to find out how people with intellectual disability use social media in an emergency.

An emergency can be something like a flood, bush fire, storm, or the COVID-19 pandemic.

I want to find out if social media is a good way for people with intellectual disability to find and share important information or get help if they need it.

I am doing this research because I want to make sure people with intellectual disability can get the information they need in an emergency.

On this page you will find information about the project.

How can I find out more?

You can also get information about the project by:

  • Watching a film about the project

  • Talking to Heidi who is the lead researcher for this project

I want to take part, what do I need to do next?

That’s great! You need to contact me and let me know you want to take part.

You will also need to sign a form saying you agree to take part.

Once you have signed the form we will work together to decide a good time and place to meet.

Remember, if you change your mind about being part of the research that is OK. You can change your mind at any time. It’s your choice.
